 Tie-Dyed Cloth is generally called "Colorful Tied - Cloth". It was an ancient skill of dyeing originating from the interior of China. The materials used are white pure cotton or white fabric of cotton and flax. The colorant of dyeing is indigo - blue extracted from dyeing -yielding herbs. The procedures include designing, painting, tying with thread, dip - dyeing, removing thread, poaching and trimming. Blue and dotted with white flowers, the cloth looks elegant and vivid. The patterns of the cloth are usually the ordinary flowers, birds, insects and fish. Now, Zhouchen in Dali Town has become the main producing place of the cloth. The characteristics of the production are that the cloth is distributed to individual families in which the procedure of tying with thread is done. Then they are collected back for dyeing and other procedures. The tie- dyed cloth is used to make clothes, caps, bags and so on. These products are very popular among domestic and foerign visitors and are therefore exported to Japan and Southeast Asian countries.
 Wutongzouyin is another distinctive bronze work in Yunnan. It was first manufactured in Shiping. Bronze is used as the background, on which various patterns are inscribed. Then the inscribed patterns are filled with melted silver or gold. After the silver or gold cools down and is polished, the whole bronze is treated with some medicinal water till the bronze background becomes black and die silver or gold patterns appear. The sharp contrast between die black and the white or the golden produces a decorative effect of classic elegance. As it is usually filled with silver, it is called "Wutongzouyin" (Silver Patterns on Black Bronze). In the past it was mainly used as stationery. Now it is used for quite different purposes. The most typical work is the scenery painting in Yunnan Hall of the Great Hall of the People. The painting is 1.2 meters high and 1.5 meters wide. In the background of black bronze, the Western Hill, the Dianchi Lake and Daguan Pavilion are embedded with silver or gold. The painting is exquisite in craftsman and is an art treasure.
 Wood carving in Jianchuan County is a 1,000-year-old traditional handicraft, known for its exquisite designs and multi-layer carving. The carvings come out in more than 100 designs including Twin Phoenixs Turning to the Sun, A Magpie Perching on Top of a Plum, A Soaring Dragon Holding the Moon, and one Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix. Woodcarving in Jianchuan has,for a long time,enjoyed the good reputation of ¡°Hometown of Woodcarving¡±.The art of woodcarving in Jianchuan has been extremely famous and popular at home and abroad since ancient times.Much of the architecture of the royal gardens in Beijing and Xian and much of the famous ancient architecture in Kunming,Dali,Lijiang and Jianshui are all masterpieces created by the hands of Jianchuan¡¯s woodcarving craftsmen.Moreover,Jianchuan was denominated as the hometown of woodcarving arts in China by the State Ministry of Culture in 1996.
