Beihai is one of the first cities on the coast that was opened to outside world in the early 1980s. Now it has been developed into a hub between eastern and western China. Beihais geographic location also makes it an important transportation center both locally and internationally. As a result of years of development, a complete traffic system has been formed in Beihai consisting of airport, railway, expressway and road.
By Air The airport was completed in 1987 and is one of the three biggest airports in Guangxi. The airport is about 24km away from the city proper. It now has opened about 100 national and international flights directed to over 20 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hongkong, etc.
By Train There is a direct train between Beihai and Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi.
By Boat The Beihai port links the city and over 98 cities and districts in the world. The nearest port is Haikou port. The boats leave in the early morning at about 8 or 8:30 am.
By Road The road condition in Beihai is rather good. The expressway links Beihai to Nanning, Chongqing and other cities in the whole country. There are 4 bus stations in the cities which make it very convenient to travel by coach or bus.
By Taxi There are a large number of taxies in the city. Fees for traveling depend on the sizes of the vehicles.
