By Air
The airport locates 35km east of the city, and the airport bus drops arriving passengers at the CAAC office on Xilinguole Lu. The city has flights to Beijing, Shanghai and other major eastern Chinese cities as well as to Ulan Bataar.

By Train
Hohhot is linked by train to Lanzhou to the west, Beijing to the east. There are also daily trains to Ulan Batur, the capital city of the Republic of Mongolia. Hohhots railway station is located in the north of the city.

By Bus
There are two major long-distance bus stations that run buses daily, and they are located just west of the train station. A freeway also links Hohhot to Baotou.

By Taxi
The minimum fare is RMB6, sufficient for most rides within the city.
