In Jiuzhaigou, tourists can have various flavors, including Chuan Cuisine, one of the eight most famous Chinese cuisines and also local Tibetan food. The most well-known character of Chuan Cuisine is most of the dishes are very hot and spicy. The Tibetan food, however, has very strong ethnic features. Generally, most hotels and restaurants in the place offer Tibetan style dishes such as those in Zehwacha stockade, the Yak butter tea, a typical kind of drinks of local people. The price of food in Jiuzhaigou is comparatively high because that the materials are mainly transported from other towns and villages of Songpan and Chengdu.
Local specialties include long noodles (Chinese name "lamian"), which are served in several noodle restaurants. There is also the Highland Barley Wine which is very fragrant.

It is a good idea to stock up on provisions either before you leave one of the bigger cities in Sichuan or at least before you enter the reserve. Water and other drinks are available in most of the villages but at inflated prices.
