Kashgar has been the focal point on open to the west with geographical superiority. Since the policy of open to west was carried out, Kashgar has been developed into a economical and cultural center. Now the city has become one of the traffic hubs in Xinjiang with a rather complete traffic system consisting of airport, railway and road.
By Air Built in 1953, Kashgar airport is the second largest airport in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. After successive expanding and rebuilding from its building, the airport has now become a modern harbor with good facilities and foremost service.
By Train The railway station in Kashgar connects the city with several large major cities around China, such as Urumqi, XiĄŻan, etc. Every day the station handles more than 800,000 passengers from different places.
By Road Kashgar has formed a sound road system which links the city to most of the counties in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and other places. The road condition is rather good.
By Taxi It is very convenient to take a taxi in Kashgar. The basic charge is RMB5.00 and fares vary slight according to the size of the vehicle. |
